VG: Whether we like it or not - -it is the never ending presidential election that steals the attention of the world. NPR is blatantly silent about the virus ravages, terrorism, or murders all over the world. It is the counting —adding and subtracting in particular – that attracts all their attention now. Americans, obviously, haven’t done enough of it in school.
HOBBS: Well, there is not much to say here. Cry-babies from both coasts, having thrown a prolonged hissy fit that extended to the last four years, have finally got their toy: Biden. So what if he is way past his prime? So what that he was not particularly good — in fact, he was spectacularly bad —for most of his 47 years in politics? The baby wants the toy that it dropped into the mud! The toy is dirty, and crushed by passing cars, and is falling apart. But the baby wants its toy and it will have it!
ALICE: What are you talking about? Have you heard of the will of the people? It is democracy, baby, which means every vote counts. Of course, it also helps who counts the votes, and thank God, we have reliable Democratic volunteers who know how to count, as opposed to the ignorant Republicans, who can’t even count the amount of guns they have in their basement or the amount of wheels on their trucks.
VG: So Alice thinks that Democrats are the only adults in the room, while Hobbs thinks they are sore losers and cry babies? I think the truth is in the middle. Democrats are mature enough to want to win no matter what. A cry baby can be distracted from its crying. Not Democrats. They are obsessed in a way that only a mature person can get obsessed. Let the world go to pieces, let’s United States be split, while half of its population – rural or small-town whites in particular - -demonized and mocked. They don’t care. They are saving the world from Trump and his band of deplorables.
HOBBS: Good point. Somehow your words made me think of the Solomon judgment. When two women were fighting over who’s baby it is, Solomon offered to cut the baby in half and divide it between the two. At that moment, a true mother gave up, while the fake one agreed on splitting. I have a feeling, Dems are as obsessed as this fake mother. They don’t care about the country as it is. For them it is a country of stupid while males. I didn’t hear any of them pausing from their predictions of Trump-induced disasters and asking the question – why are so many people still vote for Trump after four years of the relentless propaganda campaign that utilized everything that moved: Russians, viruses, corruption, sexual accusations, racism, police brutality, Ukraine, EU, NATO, climate.
ALICE: There is no need to pause and think about stupid and selfish fools who think that sticking it to the intelligent, mask-wearing adults is the greatest thing on earth. They are the guys who would vote for Hitler had they lived in the 1920s. The politician should serve the future, not the past. And the future of America is the progressive elites who know what the country and the world need. If you are progressive and if you are the elite leader of your community - -you are welcome. Democratic leadership does not care if you are white or black, gay or straight or transgender. Everyone is welcome at the table of progress. As long, as you are a leader willing to be co-opted.
VG: That’s the point, Alice. Your elites are profoundly undemocratic, and plenty of common people, especially those who think for themselves – and living in a rural areas makes one think for oneself – these people are suspicious of the progressive elites. Everyone talks about the nazi-like populists, but why are they forgetting about all sorts of elitist visionaries, like Pol Pot, for example? These visionaries can be as cruel, vicious, and myopic as the dumb crowd-pleasers.
ALICE: Well, you can’t compare Democratic party with Pol Pot. Granted, we haven’t accomplished much recently due to the nasty Republicans and their dirty tactics, but one of these days we will. By the laws of the statistics, during one of the terms of the XXI century, we’ll get the White House, Senate, The House and Supreme Court. And then we’ll finally have a chance to save this country from itself. But till then, we’ll continue minimizing damage inflicted upon this country by corrupt and recalcitrant Republicans.
HOBBS: I predict that not much will change under Biden. Others will be blamed as always, less shenanigans will be exposed, while projections, accusations, and self-righteous bullying will continue. How can a party that fails to recognize half of the country’s population be able to recognize the problems that face the country, is unclear. But the crybaby is getting its toy back. Maybe it will stop crying for a while. At least that would be a breather.
